Loving my new badminton racket

Remember when I bought a fake Yonex Badminton Racket from eBay some time ago (The fake Yonex ArcSaber 10)?. Although I was happy with the racket (after some $$ refunded, of course), I still felt cheated.

Since I play badminton regularly now on Sunday (which is the only day where I do sports), I thought of buying a genuine racket that doesn’t cost as much as Yonex, but of a good quality.

After some recommendations from the “badminton geek” forums, I decided to order the ProSpeed Predator badminton racket. No, no, not from eBay, but from its own web site directly. I’ve had enough with eBay for badminton rackets.

About ProSpeed

You may have never heard of the brand ProSpeed before. That is because the Badminton worlds are mainly dominated by Yonex rackets. Now, unless you are truly a badminton player expert (and have lots of money), I’m pretty sure that you are not going to spend your money on high-end Yonex rackets. They can cost you around USD$300 whereas a ProSpeed badminton racket only costs you US $49.

ProSpeed may not be as good as Yonex, but they certainly produce great quality rackets! The owner, Adam Soo, certainly knows badminton rackets very well and how they should perform. I’ve been in contact with the guy and he was very helpful in deciding which rackets I should go for, before I bought them.

ProSpeed Predator Series Impression

ProSpeed always researches and enhances their rackets. They have upgraded their old models, the Trueno series (which were popular on the forums that I visited), to the latest one, the Predator series.

There are 10 variations of the Predator rackets, ranging from Y1 to Y10. Each of them is suited differently for different kind of game play. I bought 4 rackets out of ProSpeed for my 3 other friends. We ended up buying 2 x Y2, 1 x Y6, and 1 x Y10. Upon buying the rackets, you can select the string tensions for the rackets (so yes, the ProSpeed rackets come pre-strung). The shipping/delivery fee is US $20, no matter where you are (it’s RM10.00 if you are in Malaysia). So make sure that you are buying a pack of them altogether :)

The rackets are light weighted and certainly feel different from one model to another. I’m using the Y6 (to help me with the smash) and I certainly could feel the head is a bit heavier than the overall racket (for a boost of smash power). Just as the Y6 titled “Smash all the way”, I did notice the power of my smashes was increased when using my new racket. I should have got a different model though, because I notice that I’m more like a “counter-attack” & defensive kind of player. Not really a fond of smashing.

The control of the racket is superb and the shots were accurate (the shuttlecock went to where ever I tried to sent it to).

My other friends are satisfied with their rackets too. They said that they usually felt tired after some “smashing sessions” in the game but not when they were using their ProSpeed Predator Y2s.

Conclusion

My friends and I are very happy with the ProSpeed Predator rackets. The quality of the material is not the best though, so try not to accidentally throw your ProSpeed racket to the floor or hit your partner’s racket as it gets dented quickly. However, it’s the quality of the overall racket that matters (the way it swings, the weight, the bounciness, etc) and ProSpeed certainly delivers the qualities promised.

A smash went bad...

Of course, if you are still not happy with the rackets, you can always return your ProSpeed rackets within 7 days to get a FULL refund! Now that is truly a 100% satisfaction guaranteed!

At the bottom of line I’d say this: Buy ProSpeed rackets without hesitation whenever you are thinking of buying high quality badminton rackets on affordable prices.

Check out ProSpeed website here and don’t forget to mention me, a happy customer, when you are in contact with Adam or buying a racket from ProSpeed :)
