Philips Hue now works with Alexa, and Razer Chroma Lighting

Philips Hue Alexa

Philips Hue, a smart, wireless lighting system gets constant updates and the popular light bulbs are just getting better and better. If you haven’t, make sure to check our reviews on Philips Hue and Philips Hue 2.0. I’m also using the Philips Hue original Lightstrips to complete my desktop set up.

Philips Hue works great on the Apple HomeKit – I’ve set it up so that when I go back home from work (only after Sunset – when it’s dark enough), the lights in my bedroom get turned on automatically. Combined it with other Apple HomeKit supported smart devices like D-Link Omna 180 CAM HD or the Elgato Eve, you are in for a treat.

And the exciting part is that Philips keep on supporting Hue with new firmware updates, new product lines, and supports on existing (and future) smart products ecosystem.

A few days ago, I set up my Philips Hue light bulbs to synchronise with the Razer Chroma lighting. As a result, the light bulbs sync with a cool light show when I’m playing Overwatch with the Razer BlackWidow Chroma v2 gaming keyboard and Razer Basilisk gaming mouse. The result is jaw-dropping, especially when you pick a certain hero in Overwatch or executing an Ultimate attack. I definitely need to get some spotlights to further enhance the room with more Hue bulbs and lightstrips.

Now, Philips Lighting has announced an update to the Philips Hue system to support Amazon Alexa for customers in Australia.

That means, you can now dim and turn your lights on and off with Alexa’s voice control, along with Siri. The new update also adds functionalities where you can even set light scenes and recipes by voice command. Imagine turning your room lights off while you are on bed using your voice, or setting them to a romantic light scene when dinner is ready – without ever having to touch your phone.

If you haven’t got an Alexa-powered device like the Amazon Echo, then maybe it’s time to get one?
