WordPress is the platform that runs Craving Tech in the background. It’s an amazing free, open source blogging platform that is used by millions of sites around the world (even the big and popular ones that you may have visited in a daily basis).
The latest update, WordPress 3.5, has just been released today and without further delay, I’m proud to announce that Craving Tech is now running version 3.5. If you are a blogger, you may have been wondering what’s new and why you should install WordPress 3.5.
WordPress 3.5 – New Media Manager
The Media Manager gets a revamp aesthetically and
For a start, adding a media is now being integrated into a single “Add Media” button.
You’ll then see a glance of your Media Gallery and can quickly drag and drop image files on your desktop to the pop-up window to upload them.
It’s now easier an quicker to change the property of the images and you can even arrange the media in the Media Gallery if you wish.
WordPress 3.5 – Admin Buttons + Look-and-Feel
The style of the buttons are changed to be more square-y and the editor styles get tweaked a bit though the overall of the layout has not changed.
There is also a new color picker which I rarely use:
WordPress 3.5 – HD and Retina Display Support
Now if you are writing an article in a high resolution device, such as the new MacBook Pro with the Retina Display, you will experience WordPress in high definition (if such thing exists!). Not much maybe, but you’ll definitely appreciate the support and should make you more productive somewhat.
There are other updates for developers and such so they may not be directly related to us bloggers and writers. However, hope that the new updates will make it even easier for plug-in developers to build awesome and better WordPress plugins.
Should you update to WordPress 3.5? Of course, there is no reason not to! However, if you have the ShareBar plug-in activated on your WordPress blog, I have to say that ShareBar does not work in WordPress 3.5 yet as it generates a bunch of errors:
Missing argument 2 for wpdb::prepare() …. “wp-content/plugins/sharebar/sharebar.php on line 112” and “wp-content/plugins/sharebar/sharebar.php on line 124”
I quickly turned my ShareBar plug-in off until the author fixes it (hopefully soon). My other plugins are working great so far in WordPress 3.5 without problems.
