Razer Megasoma Review

Razer Megasoma is a hybrid of a hard and a soft mouse mat; If you love the softness of a soft mat but want to have the speed of a hard mat, Razer Megasoma delivers (this is debatable and I guess more like a personal preference). Razer Megasoma sits somewhere in between, combining the best [...]

Wordpress 2.5 release!

by Michael Aulia on 30 March, 2008

in Software Release

If you are blogging using the Wordpress system, you must have heard or at least notice that there is a new version of WordPress available, i.e version 2.5!

I’m planning to update my blog to version 2.5 probably tomorrow. So expect a little downtime and maintenance. This release is quite big, so I’m expecting the worst! (It may not be that bad, but I’m always a skeptic person.. a "Be safe than sorry" kind of person :)

Has anyone of you upgraded yet? Please share your experience here. I’ll share mine after the update.

FYI, the word count patch doesn’t work in 2.5.

Word count? That’s ok, I don’t normally use it. Don’t even know that feature exists on version 2.3 :D Thanks for letting us know

Simple Tags does not work, so I de-activated it.

Yeah I updated mine to 2.5 already, so far no problems for me yet.

Hopefully no problems ever. :D

I’ve had problems with every upgrade so far so I’ll be interested to read more before I up grade again. I was told the last time to be sure and deactivate all plugins beforehand to make sure it goes smoothly

Oops, sorry for that, I’ve put my personal blog from my previous comment. Anyway, I don’t like the new dashboard, it takes time before we got used to it.

Hi glitch,

Thanks to Deimos (@ahkong.net), I’ve just installed a plug-in that allows you to edit your comments (for as long as 5 minutes :D )

Anyways, will post my own impression of v2.5 in a few hours time

Alink wp plugin won’t work well, reported by one of my friends, thats why I haven’t updated yet, :) Moreover I can’t believe the WP team have solved more than 200 bugs in one day before releasing this version, good luck anyway, I will wait a few days then upgrade following you all, :)

My main blog is a WordPress MU, so nothing has to be done yet. My other blogs on Wordpress 2.3.3 has to be upgraded but will wait probably for a couple of weeks before doing the upgrade. Will hear out any news and updates from you guys.

Hey Mate,
I updated last night. It was pretty straight forward (hopefully nothing’s broke). I simply used an ftp client and uploaded the new WP2.5 and over wrote everything except for wp-content directory. I’m still getting used to the new admin area but so far … it’s pretty cool.

cheers
dale

A lot of information to absorb. I’m still on blogger and considering a move to Wordpress, guess this isn’t the time to do so.

Yeah my aLink plug-in fails to be activated. Upgrading to 2.5 is still worth it though ^^

@dale: You should use the automatic upgrade WordPress plug-in :) It’s plain simple to upgrade/update WordPress

@Shellia: I used to blog at Blogger and moved to WordPress. Never regretted my decision since then, but I’ll definitely regret it if I’m still using Blogger :)

There’s another bug regarding the wp-admin folder, unable to upload files (only to some hosting), if tat happens u will need another htaccess inside the wp-admin folder. Thanks to Worpress 2.5.1 most of the problem fixed.

Hm I was able to upload the files, even though there’s an error message. But as you said, in 2.5.1, it’s gone.

I still get a lot of “Loading…” texts though on the Dashboard, even on 2.5.1
