Windows Blue (or Windows 8.1) will be a free update

Windows 8 RTM

To those running Windows 8, you may or may not have heard about Windows Blue. No, it’s not something like a whole brand new Windows 9, but more like an incremental update of Windows 8. Microsoft has promised Windows 8 users for continual and exciting updates in the future which will keep Windows 8 users happy.

At first, we weren’t sure whether this would come as a free update or not. However, today, Microsoft has made the confirmation that Windows Blue (which is now officially being called as Windows 8.1) will be free through Windows Store.

The Windows 8.1 update for Windows 8 will be available on 26th of June 2013 for both Windows 8 and Windows RT. Don’t expect a huge design change though. I’ve also heard that we may see the start button coming back on Windows 8.1.
