The Green Hornet – a half action, half comedy superhero movie

Green HornetBritt Reid, played by Seth Rogen suddenly inherits “The Daily Sentinel”, a major local newspaper in Los Angeles after the death of his father. He met his dad’s recently-fired mechanic, Kato (Jay Chou) who happens to be both a Kung Fu expert and a gadget geek.

Britt then decides to become a superhero and fight the local crime with Kato’s help. They took the name “The Green Hornet” as their hidden identities, with the help of Cameron Diaz.

I like Seth Rogen. He is both annoying and funny in the movie. There are times when I laughed seeing his stupidity although there are moments of “err, right..”. Nevertheless, there are plenty of jokes being thrown in this movie – which makes this a different kind of superhero movie compared to X-Men or the Dark Knight. This is a no dark, sinister superhero movie and as such, can easily be watched together with the whole family at home. Speaking of superheroes, Britt and Kato don’t really have any superpower strength (well maybe a little bit but I don’t want to spoil it here) but they do have a super car (like a Batmobile), named the Black Beauty (it’s the car they use when they are rampaging through the city). It reminds me of K.I.T.T from the old Knight Rider TV series, being remade on the 21st century! Although, it doesn’t really make much sense how Kato can make several of such cars in such a short period of time and able to get all the weaponry. So try not to think too much when you are watching this movie and just enjoy the fun!

The Green Hornet is a great movie to watch at home on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon with the family. It’s relaxing and it has its fun moments. There are some cool fighting scenes too, thanks to Kato.

I’d strongly suggest to rent The Green Hornet from a video rental store, such as a participating Video Ezy store, and watch it during the weekend, to have a fun and relaxing moment at home. Let the dynamic duo entertains you while you pamper yourself on the couch.
