This is a true event happening in a telecommunication company (AAPT) in Sydney, Australia.
Kyle Doyle, an employee of AAPT, was calling in sick on Thursday, 21st October 2008. His employer was asking him for a medical certificate to prove that he was truly being sick.
Below were the communication emails between the two that I got from a friend. I’ve replaced his employer’s name with an initial, to protect his identity, just in case
(I’ve also removed all contact details attached on the email signatures).
From N (his employer):

N,
1 day leave absences do not require a medical certificate as stated in my contract, provided I have stated that I am on leave for medical reasons.

Hi Kyle,
Usually that is the case, as per your contract. However please note that leave during these occasions is only granted for genuine medical reasons. You line manager has determined that your leave was not due to medical reasons and as such we cannot grant leave on this occasion.

Hi N,
My leave was due to medical reasons, so you cannot deny leave based on a line manager’s discretion, with no proof, please process leave as requested.
Thanks

Hi Kyle,
I believe the proof that you are after is below

————————-
All I can say is: BUSTED! lol. But I guess, this guy has become popular now because of his stupidity ![]()
It’s on the Melbourne’s newspaper article as well (The Age) that you can read here: Sickie faker busted by Facebook.

Lol! That’ll teach him (and the rest of us) to play hookie again! Or at least leave a stupid status update like that!
lol yeah.. and that’s another reason why you shouldn’t add your boss to Facebook
hehe, it’s a funny story but i’m not sure is boss needs to be friends with him to know the status updateof his FB.
The sorry could be true, he is on facebook and most of his friends are from Australia.
omg what an idiot!
this is too funny
STUMBLED!
He needs to adjust his privacy settings on Facebook so only friends can see his status from now on.
Yep, I saw this on Nudgeville yesterday! xD Hilarious, though I must say, a LOT of other sites have revealed full names and email details and the picture without any black-outs, so I’m sure if you don’t do it as well no one’s going to kill you!
Of course, it’s better to be cautious, but I’m just saying I already found 5 or 6 websites that show all the info. Also, think of it this way – it’s their own fault this got online. And since this is a two-person conversation, the only way we could’ve found out about it was if one of the people posted it. So they all knew the consequences there…
@Pablo: Well I think you need to, especially if you can see the date of birth (on the screenshot)
@Geoserv: Thanks for the stumble!
@Feabionsu: I’d say it’s the guy who made the email available online and (again), didn’t think of the consequences posting the email signatures too.. if he is, that guy is so fired lol
lol.. the power of facebook and internet..
[Sprung and with no room left to move, Doyle replied to the boss: "HAHAHA LMAO [laughing my ass off] epic fail. No worries man.”]
This one made my day, thanks for sharing.
What a idiot. Sounds like something my brother would do.
Hahahahahahaha That’s hilarious!!
LOL! If you are going to be dishonest at least learn to cover your tracks properly! What a dumbass!
That’s hillarious!
haha LOL noob is what i call him HAHA, i would never give my boss my FB
Where on earth do they have such clever bosses ?? cool trap
and Mike great job by not hiding the employers name in Kyle’s replies… lol.. check out again…

Argh… thanks Quakeboy.. Just re-edited the post and your comment..
Although as Feabionsu said, you can find the name anywhere on the net anyway
Not too clever, this has been on the news for months…employers and everyone else is gathering info from social networks…don’t do it LOL
Lol, busted, being a manager myself I would love to catch someone like this, our company blocks social networking sites, sucks, this would be a good reason to unblock.
What a dork!lol I can’t believe he didn’t think he would get caught? Great story – thanks for the giggle! :0)
F
For sure, this guy isn’t smarter than the average bear. Sure, this may have made him famous, but he is famous as an idiot!
Well, if he was the one who spread his own email to the internet, then I guess it doesn’t matter for him
seriously an Idiot…
Hey! I think that you should cut this Kyle guy a bit of slack. Although he wasn’t thinking too clearly about covering his tracks, you have to admit that under the circumstances, a lucid manager would recognize that he was in no shape to perform his duties, and would be doing the company a favour by taking some recuperation time. I think that both parties showed a lack of foresight.
They are both BUSTED!
I think you forgot to replace the name with an ‘N’ in the second email. It’s in the To: section.
he needs to say sorry for his stupidity!
