A short glimpse of ‘Cortana’, Windows Phone’s personal assistant

Cortana

Siri, as we all know, is a personal assistant on the iOS devices like the iPhone. You can ask her (or him) about the current weather, show your contacts, make appointments, create a reminder, bring you home through Maps, and many more. Google Android has “Google Now”. The Windows Phone OS from Microsoft, well, has nothing at this stage.

However, a leak confirms an upcoming personal assistant for Windows Phone 8.1, to be unveiled next month at Build 2014 Conference, to be called Cortana.

Cortana has some similarities to Siri. For example, you can ask Cortana to call you a certain name like Siri. You can also get Cortana to set an alarm for you, play a song, or search the web. In the video, however, she seems to be able to do more, by learning what you like and prefer.

Here is Cortana’s leak video:

There is no audio for the Cortana in the leak video, though. Rumor is that the real Cortana will use the same voice actor as in the Halo games (which is where Cortana comes from). Guess we will find out soon enough.
