Samsung GALAXY Gear – back to the future

Samsung GALAXY Gear

If you haven’t, feel free to read Craving Tech’s coverage on Australia’s Samsung GALAXY Gear launch in Sydney some time ago. The Samsung GALAXY Gear is a smartwatch that connects to Samsung GALAXY Note 3 at the moment (more older devices support to come on future updates), allowing you to check for incoming calls, make calls, and even take pictures.

Remember the good old days back in the 90’s where movies showed how cool it was to be able to communicate through your watch and looked so futuristic back then? This latest GALAXY Gear ad from Samsung cleverly reminds us about the past and highlights that the future is now here. It’s been a long time coming indeed.

Obviously, Samsung GALAXY Gear is not equipped with advanced weaponry system like the Predators are using (if you watch the official ad), but all the dreams of being able to talk through your watch (and more) is finally here indeed. I guess the spies back in the 1990s weren’t so cool and special after all.

So if you just want to know how it feels like being Dick Tracy or Michael Knight from the Knight Rider series, Samsung GALAXY Gear delivers the closest experience at this moment in time.

LeBron James, a professional basketball player from Miami Heat (NBA), seems to be enjoying his Samsung GALAXY Gear too, among other Samsung products that he uses in the video below such as the GALAXY Note and Tab. All these gadgets are helping him out to stay connected with his family where ever he is and to increase his productivity in training and such.

I wonder whether he’s allowed to use his GALAXY Gear during a match to keep track of his performance or to communicate with his coach :)
