Do you still remember playing the old school of adventure games back in the 80’s? Sierra was the most popular game company in that era with all the adventure games such as Police Quest, King’s Quest, Space Quest, and the Leisure Suit Larry’s series. I remembered playing them all when I was in Elementary school on my Intel 286 processor (10 MHz) and nobody seemed to mind with the 4 color graphics
Did you miss the good old days? Not to worry, because you can actually re-play these legacy games (or if you weren’t born in that era) on Sarien.net using your browser!
My first adventure game, the Black Cauldron!
That’s right. All the games are Flash based but the graphics are exactly the same as the old times. Back then, gameplay was all that matters and not the graphics. Nowadays, we’ll find games that should’ve been gone to the bin before they even got released. There are just too many games focusing only on the graphics and not the gameplay.
At the moment this post is written, you can play these following games at Sarien.net (more will be added):
- Space Quest 1 : The Sarien Encounter
- Space Quest 2: Vohaul’s Revenge
- Police Quest : In Pursuit of the Death Angel
- Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards
- The Black Cauldron
To play the game, you can use your keyboard (back when no one had a mouse like we do now) or using your mouse (implemented by Sarien.net’s developers). For maximum satisfaction, use your keyboard just like the old days!
I remember having to type “look” on every screen just to find out what’s going on and which object that I could interact lol.
Back then..learning English while playing games..fun, fun, fun!
Multiplayer mode
Huh? Multiplayer mode on an Adventure game? Err not really. There is never such a thing but when playing these classic games in Sarien.net, you can see other real players walking around just like you, playing the game
Although you can’t basically interact with them, it’s still fun to see and you can actually copy them to solve the puzzle.

I think I remember playing leisure suit larry (probably not this exact version) on the snes (or maybe it was nes). I have such a horrible memory.
Anyways, thanks. These games are fun, even though they have low graphics. Its like a time capsule from the past.
What is surprising is that there is some sort of multiplayer element added. I don’t really like that.

Haha yeah it’s kinda weird but just ignore it, it doesn’t really tamper your play
Its nice to go back in the past. Hehe.
What a great evolution on the web we have here, from these pixelate graphics to much more modern creatives.

Gosh, I forgot about all of these games! The screenshots you posted look a lot different than how I remember these games, for some reason I remember them looking a lot better!
Must be that I’m now getting spoiled with the graphics in modern games!
I used to love the leisure suit larry series, and the black cauldron was pretty good as well. Thanks for sharing the link, I’m gonna have to go try these just for old times sake!

The expansion of online gaming has reflected the overall expansion of computer networks from small local networks to the Internet and the growth of Internet access itself. Online games can range from simple text based games to games incorporating complex graphics and virtual worlds populated by many players simultaneously. Many online games have associated online communities, making online games a form of social activity beyond single player games.
