Movie editing and publishing with Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 and Adobe Audition CS5.5

Adobe Premiere Pro CS5-5

Movie editing and publishing with Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 and Adobe Audition CS5.5 – I’m a fan of casual movie recordings and editing. I’ve made a few videos for my friends’ wedding (presented during their wedding reception) and have received good feedback about them. I was using the Adobe Premiere Elements series and the older version of Adobe Audition. I thought it’s the time to take it to the next level by using Adobe Premiere Pro and the latest Adobe Audition.

Adobe Premiere Pro has been used by professional producers and movie editors around the world, not just some casual movie producers-wanna-be. The package contains lots of editing features to make the process of editing as seamless as possible, including transition effects, and flexible manual customizations for those who know what they want in their final movie.

Jumping from Adobe Premiere Elements to Adobe Premiere Pro required some adjustments as I tried to find my way into Premiere Pro’s interface. Premiere Elements was definitely quicker to learn at the expense of losing the advanced features and flexibility of Premier Pro. It took a bit of time to adjust but I then learned that keyboard shortcuts are powerful and more desirable when working in Adobe Premier Pro CS5.5.

Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 Enhanced Mercury Playback Engine

You can run the application natively in 64-bit (which is a big bonus) and optimized for new computers with or without GPU acceleration. I have a quad-core AMD with 8 GB of RAM and 1 GB memory in my video card (running on Windows 7 64-bit) so I really appreciate the team for utilizing these resources. Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 does feel smoother and faster compared to Adobe Premiere Elements 8/9 that I’ve been using to create my movies in the past (running on the same machine), especially when working with HD-quality videos. I bet the performance improvement will be more significant if I have an NVIDIA CUDA-enabled GPU.

Dual system sound support

Sync and merge up to 16 separate audio clips to a single video clip easily through the editing tools or timeline. I wish I had Adobe Premiere Pro CS 5.5 when I had to edit our Christmas play video last year. I wasted so many hours just trying to synchronize between different audio and video clips recorded using 3 different devices. Rather than having to manually do the “try-and listen” process, Premiere Pro CS5.5 does it for you.

Integration with Adobe Audition

Edit Adobe Audition

Adobe Audition

In the past, I had to open the Adobe Audition to import my audio files, edit/process them, export to new files, and then imported them to Adobe Premiere Elements. With Adobe Premiere Pro CS 5.5, audio files can be passed between the two applications seamlessly. It’s a little thing to have but it helps to speed up your production.

Adobe Media Encoder CS5.5 presets

It is now easier to publish your movie to a particular format for a particular purpose. The presets allow you to quickly pick a particular format type, making the exporting process a much simpler one compared to the previous version.

Adobe Audition CS5.5

I’ve used Adobe Audition for a few years and it’s my primary choice of software for sound editing. I’ve used it mostly to combine different songs or parts of a song together for weddings and advertisements. It’s easy to work with and also powerful. You can split your audio file, give it some effects, clear some background noise, and also a nice fade-out at the end.

Searching for audio files (sound effects, ambience, etc) to complement your movie production can never get easier than this, thanks to the royalty free content included in Adobe Audition Cs5.5. Rather than having to use the search engines while trying to find out about copyright issues, Adobe Audition CS5.5 includes tons of royalty free loops, sound effects, and background music. The included royalty free media are quite hidden so you have to click on Window-Resource Central to search, download, and use them.
