July 2008 Statistics

My blog’s July 2008 statistics: 31,335 Visits, 50,686 Pageviews
- Referring Sites – 19,656 visits
- Search Engines – 7,874 visits
- Direct Traffic – 3,792 visits
- Other – 13 visits
Overall, it was a bad month compared to June 2008 with 49,660 visitors to my blog
Part of the blame (there’s always someone or something to blame) goes to my new theme (I’ll tell it later on a post some time next week), lack of social bookmarking activities, and lots of pages were unranked due to my permalink structure change earlier.
Referring Sites Traffic breakdown:
Total money made online in July 2008: $81.52
- Google AdSense: $67.03
- Private Advertising: $15
- ASE AdNet: $9.49
- Selling 3000 Entrecard Credits on eBay: $6.50 (not really worth it, IMO)
Other interesting stuffs happening in July 2008:
- My PageRank went up from PR1 to PR4.
- My Alexa Rank, for the first time, went under 100,000.
- For the first time, my blog’s feed subscriber count went to a 100-mark.
- A new theme for my blog which is “perfect” for me.
- Installed “SezWho” comment & rating system that is supposed to encourage more commenters. Whether it’s working or not, I can’t really tell.
- Ditched my Technorati tags plug-in. Not worth the traffic I’ve been getting from Technorati.
- Moved my sponsors area to above the fold. This should please every advertisers
Feel free to advertise on my blog. - Received an $11 click from my AdSense
It made me jump from my seat in disbelief.
Looking forward for in August 2008:
- A contest to give away a free domain name + 1 year web hosting.
- A new major change on Entrecard about the economy or Entrecard credits (or so I’ve heard)
- More private advertisers (should be easier now that my blog has a PR4 than a PR1, but we’ll see)
- More ways to get traffic on this blog! It’s not as easy as everyone said. Liars!
Some post highlights from July 2008:
- How Web Developer Toolbar saved my day
- No WinRar? No Worries!
- Stop those trackback spams!
- Overwhelmed by Social Networking? Not for Digsby
- Earn more money on Technology blogs

Here’s mine for July 2008, according to GA.
25,430 Visits
39,023 Pageviews
Search Engines 20,393.00 (80.19%)
Referring Sites 2,591.00 (10.19%)
Direct Traffic 2,446.00 (9.62%)
How about we trade secrets? You teach me how to get so many referring traffic, while I share with you how I harvest search engine traffic?
Awesome.. Awesome..
Just to let you know that Alexa Rankings are very inaccurate. I’ve got as half the traffic as you and I’m 60K-ish so don’t worry..
Cheers!

Mike,
You have good referring sites traffic. Want to know how to increase on that front.
Can you give some tips?
Nihars last blog post..Try Performancing Ads instead of Direct Private Advertising
@Deimos: Aww Deimos..you make me jealous! Search engines traffic are the best traffic :{
@Nadeesha: You have such a good blog. I would have expected that you have a much more traffic than me
@Nihar: That’s the stumbleupon part. I’m not really active in there but apparently people like my Pregnant Italian Joke post so much that it has received a lot of stumbles and traffic
“More ways to get traffic on this blog! It’s not as easy as everyone said”
True – so true.
This is all hard work.

Even though your traffic was down, the improvements in PR and Alexa are nice accomplishments. This is summer time, so many sites lose traffic because people are outdoors enjoying the nice sunny weather. Once school returns, I think traffic will as well.
search engine traffic are the real best for blogger to earn from…. as the daily readers of ur blog do not click on ads or go via affiliate links …
Congrats for the PR and Alexa ranking frd
… Good Luck !!!
Mike, don’t expose G Adsense earnings publicly
their terms and conditions dont allow
Your site might be banned. Remove ASAP

Thanks guys. I guess I should be grateful with all the rankings instead of focusing on the traffic numbers
@quakeboy: I’m sure it’s safe, as long as you don’t specify the whole statistics (page CTR, page eCPM)
Mike,
When ever i publish a post. I submit it to digg and stumble. but afterwards no body seems to stumble my posts. I also have Bookmark and share but i think nobody is digging or stumbling
dear michael, which one of your blog has PR 4? not this one right?
Coz, I’m checking with my own coded pagerank checker at prwalk.com, this blog has only PR 2.
I also cross checking your PR at mypagerank.info and mypagerank.net to make sure that I don’t have something wrong with my script. But those two has same result, i.e PR 2.
Where did you check your Google Pagerank?

@Nihar:
(I love search engines traffic more in terms of getting $$)
Well, looking at your traffic analysis, I’d rather exchange that with you
I found that stumblers only like stumbling jokes, pictures, and videos, Nihar. Very rarely they’ll stumble good story-driven posts
———-
@achmadz:
The root domain http://www.cravingtech.com/blog has a PR2 but the http://www.cravingtech.com/blog has a PR4
It is this blog
I know that sounds stupid
Sometimes I wish my blog was on http://www.cravingtech.com/blog instead to avoid the confusion!
@michael:
my bad… I’m just checking your main domain, without adding the ‘blogs’ tail..
I’m checking your http://www.cravingtech.com/blog and my pagerank checker script gave right result, i.e PR 4..
sorry to bother… just testing my script though…
achmadzs last blog post..VB .NET: Disable Windows Form Close (x) Button
No problem
Glad that it works well
Thanks for sharing your monthly traffic and income Mike.
For my first month of blogging, I get 11,000 total visits which is not bad for me. I hope I will learn more how to get the right traffic over time. Cheers.

11,000 for the first month?? Wow *salute*
Great work Michael, keep it up. When you have bad months, don’t worry because you can only go upwards! I’ll help you boost traffic in August
Just keep on writing the quality posts that you do and having fun!!
Puji Tuhan!
Very nice.
Michael, I agree that selling Entrecard credits on ebay is not worth it, especially if you have spent much time clicking and advertising to accumulate.
You cannot compete with those professional drop-and-run bloggers for business.
Hi Mike,
Just curious how do you get such detailed information about your blog . Even i want to know how many people actually drop on my site through google . Although i have a widget installed on my site feedijit it tell where my traffic is coming from . But never does tell how many from where .
I have a counter too but no specific stats
Thank you,
Asims last blog post..Mommy Confession Mom Blog Contest Giveaway
Thanks Arnold, I’ll see you at Plurk
@jeflin: True. When I joined Entrecard, 1000 credits worth around $6-7 though. So I decided to stack up my wealth over time but found that after I did, it was all too late lol
@Asim: You can join Google Analytics which will give you a quite detailed traffic analysis. Where your visitors are coming from, the keywords used to get to your site, etc.
Very interesting! I’m using StatCounter, but I should try Google Analytics! Is it the only website tracking program you use for your blogs/sites?
Oh, and in case you’re wondering why I’m looking at old posts so much now, it’s partly because I’m trying to Yahoo Buzz every blog post here that I think would attract people’s attention, since you installed your Buzz widgets on every one of them!
Obviously stats probably wouldn’t interest people, but your tips about advertising, your domain contest, your plurk blog entry and plenty of other posts certainly would, so they’re all up on Yahoo Buzz right now!
P.S. The other “partly” is cause I love blog – seriously.
