I’m quite surprised that I have received many visitors these few days from search engines to find out how to uninstall PointUI (if you don’t know what PointUI is, read my old post here).
I did a bit of searching at PointUI.com’s forum and find a post about uninstalling the program (update: link removed – no longer valid).
I’ve been using PointUI myself and although there are still a few bugs, I found that this application has a potential. I’m curious as to why people are uninstalling it?

The application is by far the best application I have tested yet, however, the only glitch I found was that it lowers my phone volume down on my HTC Mogul so low that I cannot hear a conversation. Both levels show max volume on the phone and on the Home application. If it wasn’t for that I would probably keep it instead of uninstalling it.
Ah, I see..I don’t encounter that bug on my HTC P3600i.
The developers are busy with testing for the new release. If you still want to try PointUI, you can try to download the latest beta here: (1.01b test 10)

It may have fixed the bug that you encountered.
The next version also has a black theme and it looks much cooler than the blue one!
I’m uninstalling PointUI because of a few things:
* Can’t tell which type of number it is (cell, home, work, etc) for a contact in the call history. even the default WM5/6 interface does that, and it’s key info.
* No way to access Contacts from the Call History. I found myself searching through the recent calls list, and if I couldn’t find the number I was looking for I would naturally head to Contacts. However with PointUI I have to open the Contacts app the same as if I were opening up a game to play – browse through the Apps menu (see next point).
* Maybe there is a way to customize which buttons show up in the Favorites menu, but I couldn’t find it. I use Contacts a lot more than Notes, yet I have to scroll down in the regular apps menu to get to Contacts.
* I found another UI I want to try out and compare.
I do like PointUI. But I think I’m going to wait for the first ’service pack,’ as it were.
There’s a new update on PointUI (v1.02b)

For thw same reasons above… I don’t use Outlook tasks. I wish there were more customization of the home screen. Also, how do you assign favorite apps??? I’ll wait for the next major rev.
Hi mma0204,
Have you tried the newer version? (on my #4 comments above) It gives a bit more customisation of the home screen.
I don’t use Outlook tasks too, but another tasks application, and the tasks will still be displayed by PointUI.
To assign favorite apps, it’s on your Control Panel (your mobile control panel -> Start, Setings, Personal Tab, Menus). The new version will replace the Multimedia Icon with a Favorite icon
my reasons for wanting to uninstall is.
1.uses alot of memory. to the point where i am unable to play any media due to lack of memory being used by the program in the background.
2.contact view should be the same as the call history view. i still have to use the WM6 view for many of the features so i still have to break out the stylus so i dont see the point o having pointui.
but being able to customize the background was a plus that they have added.
while i really like this program it still in very early development and i think i want to wait til the developers iron out alot o the wrinkles the program has
I am not a sophisticated computer person, and I can not figue out how to install point on my at&t tilt. Is there any place that I can get step by step elementary instructions?
Thanks for you help
I haven’t uninstalled my PointUI, although I’m not using it anymore. I’ll probably try to go to the forum on my post and post a step-by-step instruction on my blog. I won’t give any promise when, though!
The forum link on my post didn’t help?
EDIT: Oops sorry.. do you mean install or uninstall?
I meant install
