Can't create a subdomain? Ow that's sad as it has become a standard in a shared account web hosting nowadays.. would be great if you can share an alternative when you find one here!

Thanks for this post. I have just started working with Google Apps and was wondering how to run our mailing list. We have about 400 subscribers and have been using some email list company. But since migrating our email to Google. we've not found how to use Google's mailing list feature.

Although your work around looks ok, it does not work for us because we can't create a subdomain with our current host package.

I guess I have to keep looking :-)

Thanks anyhow for the post.

I believe changes made by Google around the last of October breaks this solution. Google is now modifying the envelope from addresses on mail that is forwarded or on mail routed through their group mechanisms. Apparently their intent is to intercept all bounced messages and discard them.

This has two ugly effects: 1) All of your mail to your mailing lists now looks like it comes from a trumped up Google address instead of the original sender, and 2) The original sender of the message never knows that their message was not delivered.

I have not found an alternative solution as yet.
