Why becoming a product reviewer is not as easy as you thought – Part 1

I had a bit of discussion with a friend of mine a few days ago. She said how lucky I am (because I’ve been getting those wonderful gadgets to try and review on) and how easy it is to review those “free” review products. I tried to defend myself and told her that it wasn’t [...]

WordPress bloggers, version 2.8 has just been released! A few hours late than expected (Wednesday) but it’s finally here! Whether you are on WordPress 2.8 Betas, 2.8 RC, 2.7, or even older, go to the Tools section on your Administration and update your WordPress now!

If you wonder why it’s codenamed “Baker”, it’s to honor Chet Baker, a trumpeter and vocalist. As to why, don’t ask me.

WordPress 2.8 changes include:

  • A quicker and more stable WordPress.
  • A better widgets interface.
  • Ability to display up to 4 columns (widgets) on your dashboard.

wordpress 2.8 3 columns on dashboard

    3 Columns on mine

  • A cool built-in Theme editor, named the CodePress Editor. You can now see those line numbers when you are editing your theme & CSS files. Not to mention the syntax highlighting that should reduce coding errors. Your codes will also look cleaner than ever with the help of the code editor.

As for changes between WordPress 2.8 RC and WordPress 2.8 final, I can’t see anything different but at least they’ve fixed the CSS styling on the Plug-ins page. Previously it’s hard to distinguish which plug-ins are active and which are inactive. It’s also hard to see when a plug-in’s update is available odue to the coloring.

I am also enjoying the new version. I do not know if it is my imagination or does the back-end seem to be quicker?

I thought it’s quicker because of my new hosting :D But according to the list of changes, backend improvement is one of them

I was planing to update to Wordpress 2.8, but recently few of my clients reported lots of problems like
Internal server Error
Broken Permalinks and broken theme issue..
So for now
I will wait for some more reviews and issues before I will upgrade my blog to wordpress 2.8

Hmm so far so good but if you don’t need it, I guess you can wait until at least WordPress 2.8.1
