Well, this news will provide some relief to privacy advocates who were concerned about the spying nature of Google Glass. It seems like Glass won’t be stealing more personal information from now because guys of Google recently said in a Google+ post that they won’t be approving any facial recognition based Glass apps for now.

As Google is inching closer to the consumer launch of Google Glass, the wearable computing device is gaining a lot of attention, curiosity, apps and privacy concerns around the world. A common person is overall impressed by the capabilities of this device but privacy advocates are becoming more and more concerned about its usage.

Earlier this month a letter signed by several Congress members was sent to Google. In the letter they had asked about the privacy concerns related to Google Glass. It has also been banned already in some public places like casinos and bars especially because it can collect user information without the consent of that user. The facial recognition capabilities of this device were increasing those concerns by twice.

But last Friday brought a sigh of relief for privacy-minded people. In a Google+ post on the official ‘Project Glass’ page Big G said,

As Google has said for several years, we won’t add facial recognition features to our products without having strong privacy protections in place. With that in mind, we won’t be approving any facial recognition Glassware at this time.

You can read the entire post here on the official page of Google Glass. It is due for a consumer launch by the end of this year with a price tag that will be much lower than the $1500 price tag of Explorer Edition.
