“I like Google Chrome but I love my Firefox more because of its extensions”
“I’ll definitely use Google Chrome when it supports extensions”
“I miss advertisement blocking extension”
If you say these words whenever you comment on a Google Chrome’s post, then soon you will have to stop saying them because Google has released its early stage for supporting extensions on Chrome!
At the moment, there are 4 extensions found on the latest Google Chrome development channel.
Accoring to Geek Technica’s post, the extensions are:
- Cleeki (similar to Internet Explorer 8 Accelerators)
- Adsweep (block ads) which is a surprise since Google AdWords & AdSense are the biggest money makers for Google.
- Page Rank for Chrome (to check the PageRank on any pages)
- CustomNewTab (tweaks to tabs and Chrome’s dashboard)
Let’s give it some time for Google to catch up with Mozilla Firefox’ extensions. I’m sure it’ll take them a while but I have high expectations for Google!

Alright, now I definitely need to try it soon.
Also, I really like adblocking extensions. I turn it off when browsing the normal internet, but when I get a site with intrusive Popups or whole page ads I turn it off. Do you know if the plugin for chrome has the same or similar functionality as Adblock plus for firefox?
I honestly haven’t tried them yet. I’m too comfortable with my Firefox + its extensions. I do have a Chrome lying around for a quick short browsing session though. I might try upgrading it later to the Development channel
Google chrome needs to get a lot more addons before i will even consider switching from firefox.
They’ll come in time. Let us all wait patiently
I am one of those that said that when Google gets into the extension thing I will switch from Firefox. This is good news indeed. Now all I would need is some kind of a GMail notifier (shouldn’t be too difficult for them) and a StumbleUpon toolbar. It does appear as if I could be using Chrome pretty soon.
Lyndi´s last blog post..Photoblogs – are they really a pain to build?
I’m sure a Gmail notifier will be the first thing they’ll make. Considering it’s Google’s and all
I suppose we all have to wait and see what extensions become available, well that’s what I’ll be doing before I think about not using Firefox.
