Dyson heaters being recalled worldwide for safety concerns

Dyson Hot recall

The Dyson Hot (check out Craving Tech’s review) was the best heater I’ve used so far, thanks to the room’s temperature control, and I’ve never had any issues with it.

According to Dyson, however, there is a potential issue with the machine (AM04 and AM05 models). A small number, out of a million heaters sold worldwide, seem to have short-circuited. Though there has been no major damage or injury, Dyson is taking the initiative to make a global recall of the product.

They will send you a shipping box to send the unit back free of charge, fix it, and send it back to you with a new warranty (2 year guarantee covering parts and labor).

For a start, go to the Dyson Recall site and choose the country you are currently living in to get into a more specific detail.

The first step is to find out whether your machine is affected or not. Once you select your country, you may be presented with a page where you can check the possibility of batch faulty (by entering the heater’s serial number on the site).

I complement Dyson for taking this initiative approach, even when there are only small number of batches reported with no serious damage. It is costly for Dyson but a proof that they are trying to do the right thing for their customers.

Note that Dyson Air Multiplier cooling fans (AM01, AM02, AM03, AM06, AM07, AM08) are not affected.
