Razer Megasoma Review

Razer Megasoma is a hybrid of a hard and a soft mouse mat; If you love the softness of a soft mat but want to have the speed of a hard mat, Razer Megasoma delivers (this is debatable and I guess more like a personal preference). Razer Megasoma sits somewhere in between, combining the best [...]

Creative Alchemy is now FREE

Creative AlchemyIf you own Creative sound cards and currently use Windows Vista, you may be interested to read this post. In case you haven’t noticed, your EAX (Enviromental Audio eXtension) is currently disabled and you can’t select it on certain games that support EAX and hardware accelerated 3D Audio.

Creative blamed this for Windows Vista’s new architecture when Windows Vista was released.

EAX enhances your gaming experience by creating a more believable and immerse environmental sound effect.

The Creative ALchemy Project allows you to run your favorite DirectSound3D games on Windows Vista with full hardware accelerated support and EAX. However, Creative charged the users for $9.99 for the download and it created massive anger, disappointment, and hatred as you can see on Creative forum’s posts.

After months, however, Creative suddenly changes its mind and giving away ALchemy for free. So what if you have already paid for it? Not to worry, as you can ask for a refund on Creative Alchemy’s site.

To download Alchemy and the latest Creative driver, go here: http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/

If you own an old Audigy card (I’m still using Audigy 2 Value), someone has made a mod driver that you should try on your Vista @Neowin forums.

Just curious on what sound card are you using at the moment?

Well it depends on which card do you want to buy.. Audigy2, Extigy, etc; and each card has a variation (value, pro, music, gamer O_o)

I tried using my on-board once and eww the sound was terrible (if you have a sound card before). And the on-board audio was a good one (Intel, 6-in-1 or something)
