Automate private advertising on your blog
After reading some blog posts about private advertising, I’ve decided that it’s time for me to start private advertising on my blog.
I wasn’t quite aware about the term before and decided to ignore it and just continue on with my Google AdSense as my source income to my blog.
If your blog has grown significantly these past few months, it’s probably time for you to start it too!
Private advertising is quite different than a traditional CPC (Cost Per Click) based ad: “You get some cents if someone clicks on an ad on your blog/site”. In private advertising, most of the time you set a fixed price for advertisers to advertise on your blog on a daily/weekly/monthly basis. You can set this to anything you want. Of course, if your blog is still small, you don’t want to charge too high.
Managing advertisers, their banners, and the payment can be tedious. This can pull you out from what you are supposed to be doing: Blogging! After searching around by Googling, I found that many bloggers use a plug-in called OIOPublisher to manage this whole process. I decided to give this plug-in a try.
“OIOPublisher: Wordpress Income on Auto Pilot”
That sounds about right. OIOPublisher automatically handles everything for you. Of course, 100% automation is not entirely correct. You still have to initially set-up the prices, the ad slots, and approve/reject the banners (you can set it to auto-approve, but I wouldn’t recommend that).
Apart from it, though, you can just sit back and wait until you’ve got a notification when someone requests to advertise on your blog. From then on, everything else goes pretty much automated.
The plug-in:
- Automates setting up the ad slots and assigning the “advertise here” image of your choice
- Allows different type of advertising: banners, links, post reviews, etc. At the moment, I’m only using it for the 125×125 advertising slots on my sidebar.
- Automates all correspondence emails to the advertiser from the time they’ve decided to advertise towards the end of advertising (you can change the email template on the plug-in settings).
- Automates the payments process through PayPal, so you can just sit back and relax.
- Automates ad queuing and management, waiting for you to finalize the process (if you want to)
- Automates tracking, so you know how well the advertisement campaign went on your blog. You can also set the plug-in to automatically send a weekly report to the advertisers (number of impressions, number of clicks, etc). Of course, you can turn this off too if you decide to just let your advertisers know at the end of their campaigns.
- Has a no follow attribute by default, so not to upset Mr. Google. You can add an incentive to turn on the do follow attribute for an additional price to your advertiser, if you want to.
You can download the Lite version (FREE), however if you are serious in getting private advertisers on your blog, I’d suggest to just pay $37 once for a life time. Besides, the free version doesn’t include the Banner advertising and management.
Two days after I bought this plug-in, I’ve already got my first private advertiser ^^. I’d assume if I have more PageRank and traffic, I can get more private advertisers easier.
If you are considering to advertise on my blog, feel free to do so through the “Advertise Here” banner on the right. Credit cards accepted through Paypal!
If your blog has been established for quite some time, it is time to start doing some private advertising and earn more than just pennies to your blog! Get OIOPublisher now to get more money in the long term!
Note: My link to the OIOPublisher has an affiliate link to it. I’d be grateful if you can join under my affiliate link, but feel free to remove it if you choose not to!

hey mike. I’m shawn, the one who’ve got a prob with the sezwho plug in. It says that i’ll have to insert the script they sent me on my email. but all I received was a blog key. I dunno where to download the plug in, because everytime I click download on the sezwho dashboard, it says paste the script code sent to you. Or do I have to download the SPDK file? i use blogger and I don’t think I havve to download it. Anyway, please help if you’ve got anything.
I have just completed a site for a client of mine. This guy will definitely be interested in something like this. Thanks for the heads-up. In South Africa we do however have a problem with PayPal. We can spend but we cannot receive money. I hear it has something to do with our government’s money laundering strategy or something. Hopefully it will be sorted out soon.

One of my favorite places use for advertising is Commission Juntion. They partner up with a ton of companies and you choose which ones you want to advertise (as well as which projects). They’re pretty selective about who gets accepted, and companies are selective about who they let advertise for them. Pretty much everything is if somebody buys something from one of your ads you get a cut. http://www.cj.com
I usually use this for websites that aren’t blogs, but I’ve found a few blogs this works for. Niche blogs are really great for this. I also use OpenX to display ads: http://www.openx.org/

Great tip…I have no idea how I’ve managed to miss this little jewel.
I’ve been contemplating trying to find private advertisers on my blog…it’s coming up on its one-year anniversary in September, and currently has a PR5 and just over 70 RSS subs (but a much higher Alexa than you have…331k atm).
One of the things that’s holding me back is this…I use Project Wonderful on my blog (a program where people bid for ad space that you place on your blog), but I’ve never seen more than about 5 cents per day per ad slot…usually less.
My question is this…what was “the sign” for you to start attempting to get private ads here?

@Susie: You don’t know it if you don’t try it
@Juzten: That’s what I thought earlier too
and I tried the lite (free) version. However, there was no banner sales management on the free version so I’ve decided to go for the premium one. You “only” need to get 2 advertisers on your blog to cover the fee, actually.
@Dew: Thanks for sharing that. I’ve heard of Commission Junction from DigitalPoints forum. Might want to look at it since it’s kinda hard getting some advertisers on your own
@Inhibitor: Nice PR. Hope I can get some PR increase on the next PageRank update in a few weeks time. Yeah I tried PW before and can only get cents out of it
Not really worth it.
The sign.. well I guess, a good Alexa Rank, consistently been getting comments, good PageRank? Not too sure.. you can always get private ads, but the price will depend on your traffic and the factors above, I guess.
I can’t wait for the next release where they will turn the plugin into a fully functional web application. The ones who already bought the current version will get the upgrade for free so it’s best to purchase now while it’s still cheap.
I’m betting the next release would be more expensive so better take advantage of it now.
