April 2008 Traffic Statistics

by Michael Aulia on 2 May, 2008 in Blog Statistics

April Statistics Graph

As always, I usually post my last month’s traffic statistic on every beginning of the month. So here it is, April 2008 statistic from Google Analytics:

27,690 Visits, 39,900 Pageviews

  • Referring Sites 21,367 (73.69%)
  • Search Engines 5,157 (17.79%)
  • Direct Traffic 2,465 (8.50%)
  • Other 6 (0.02%)

Although the traffic is not much different than the previous month, I do notice an increase of organic traffics (from search engines, especially Google) these few days quite significantly.

April 2008 achievements were good, especially in the middle of the month. I had a boost in my Alexa Ranking, became the top blog on Entrecard’s Technology category, and ever came close to the top 10 of Entrecard’s most popular blogs.

Entrecard Top Technology

At the end of the month though, things didn’t really go quite well. Alexa changed its ranking system and since I haven’t got a good PageRank yet, my ranking dropped quite significantly. I’m now on the second rank of Top Technology blogs at Entrecard.com (1st-3rd ranks), and I’m no where close to the most popular blogs on Entrecard anymore.

It’s okay. It makes me feel to focus more on discovering good contents and writing good posts. I’ve spent too much time on Entrecard and other blogging “chores”. Time that I should spend more on tweaking my blog and writing great posts that you love. Someone was offering a help to tweak the colors of my blog (which some of you love or hate), so I’m still waiting for the nice guy to come back for me :) But yeah, I’m planning to tweak my blog a bit this month.

I also want to focus more on search engine traffics and less from StumbleUpon kind of traffics. It’ll probably bring down my number of visitors/impressions, but what good it be to have thousands of traffics, but no loyal readers?

These are my last month’s Top 5 posts:

  1. Guess the right girl (7,615 views) <- can’t believe this kind of post can be so popular lol
  2. My impression on the new Avast antivirus v4.8 (2,622 views)
  3. PC Games: Frontlines: Fuel of War Review/Impression (2,383 views)
  4. Free Onion Head MSN/WLM Emoticons (1,644 views)
  5. The simplest image resizer app ever! (562 views)

Please post your blog’s traffic statistics post on the comment section. I’d love to see yours!

Enjoyed the post. Can’t believe the 2 spikes in traffic. Was it stumbleupon?

Hey Dan, I was browsing your blog when I got a comment notification from you.

Thanks, well you’ll get there, once you start posting more often! :D

@Wenbin: Yeah, it was StumbleUpon traffic for the “Guess the Right Girl post”. I notice a much lower stumbleupon traffic now, so I’ll probably won’t get that kind of spike anymore. We’ll see.

Owww, I think I lost again my earlier comments after hitting the submit button. Will check it back later, hopefully it was saved and I don’t have to type it again. :-(

Your stats are very impressive and considerably better than mine. My stats have improved considerably since March though with nearly double the visitors. My Alexa ranking has shot up to 120,000 probably as a result of Entrecard. Glad I applied to advertise here, funny thing was I had not looked at your stats before doing so!

Page Loads Unique Visitors First Time Visitors Returning Visitors
Total 6,999 6,170 5,024 1,146
Average 6,999 6,170 5,024 1,146

Thanks, guys.

Mark: That’s a great result indeed! Well, when I advertise, I don’t usually check on the ranks or traffics as well, just the ad placement, lol.
I just don’t really have the time to check em one by one :{

Its seems you are doing well – Good amount of visitors – It seems you are also thinking to say goodbye to Entrecard.

Mine calmed down quite a bit in April. I wasn’t doing as much posting or promotion as I normally do.

14,322 Pageviews
Referring Sites 8,393 (76.13%)
Direct Traffic 1,538 (13.95%)

@Shanker: Nah, not planning to say goodbye to Entrecard :)

@Dew: That’s cool. You’ll probably want to optimize more to get more search engine traffic though! (It’s 9% at the moment)
Where do the referring sites traffic from?

That’s what I’m working on now is the search engines. I’m working on more meaningful and helpful posts.

Most of the referring traffic comes from stumble upon or google images

I do quite a bit of real world advertising as well, which is where some of those direct traffic comes in.

Real world advertising, eh? I don’t think my blog is “worthy” enough to be advertised..and what should I advertise?? My own name as the URL? That sounds kinda lame, don’t u think? :D

Real world as in we tell everybody about it. We try to plaster stickers around town. Plus a lot of traffic has come on from people wondering what exactly it was that they saw in real life or on a video (the mountain dew armor)

no tv ads or radio commercials.

alexa new ranking system May 28, 2008 at 9:41 pm

I heared the announcement that alexa has changed its ranking algorithm. I am little happy with this change because my website got little improvment. see new alexa ranking for http://www.alexa.com/data/details/main?url=www.fortunehotels.in Fortune Park Hotels Ltd.

A 15,386 increase? Not bad! I don’t really care about Alexa ranking at this stage, probably because I haven’t got any private advertisers yet :)
