Apps can now get your address and phone numbers from Facebook

Facebook get address and phone numbers

The most recent update on the Facebook blog shows that third party apps can now have access to your address and phone numbers on Facebook, if you allow it. Most of the time though, we just click on the “Allow” button without thinking too much when an app asks for it. That’s another reason why you shouldn’t put your real address and numbers on your Facebook account. Err I think that includes your nude photos as well as recently someone broke into girls’ facebook accounts and send their nude photos to their friends. Don’t ask me why people would want to store their nude photos online…

If you are concerned about the last update, leave your address and phone numbers field blank on your account.

Same here, although my reason is more like all apps are pretty crappy unless you like to play games on Facebook :)

I wonder whether iPhone/iPad apps can have access to these information though. There are a few apps that require connectivity to your Facebook (Vonage, Viber, Facepad, etc)

There are reputable apps that we can use for fun and most of them we can base on the ratings or the friends we have who use them. I also have that question in mind, why do they keep on posting those kinds of photos when they can just keep them on their hard drive. With all the cyber crimes we have, just keep your private info PRIVATE. Right Michael?

Yeah, agree with you totally. Unless if someone is trying to be kinky and somehow “want” their photos to be shown or peeped…. I don’t know… the world is weird enough

Most people had no idea how to secure their account online. They just click allow button and easily accept unknown friends. In the end, giving others opportunity to take advantage over the account.

Well we all do that sometimes too. Too lazy to read long disclaimers or warnings at times

This is bit annoying, don’t know why FB is requesting information for every other app.
